SERVPRO of Beckley Understands Your Dismay. We’ll Your Floor, So You Can Dry Your Tears.
Dishwashers can be some of our most helpful tools in our homes. That is why it can feel like such a betrayal when they leak and damage our floors. When water damage strikes, call SERVPRO® of Beckley; we are #HeretoHelp.
SERVPRO of Beckley Knows How to Remediate Water Damage
Washing dishes by hand is not only a ceaseless chore but it:
- Wastes more water than does using a dishwasher
- Doesn’t get dishes as clean
- May not kill germs
- Can allow soap residue to stay on the dishes
- Leads to water getting all over the kitchen
That’s why a broken dishwasher is such a blow. When a dishwasher leaks and damages the floor … oh, the injuries just pile on. It’s almost as bad as your dog liking the neighbor more than liking you.

Having to handwash dishes may not count as a disaster, but water damage does. Water damage starts bad but gets worse.
Fortunately, we are leaders in remediation of water damage.
It’s easy to imagine water damaging wood laminate, but water’s destructiveness is far more powerful than that. Water can damage:
- Hardwood
- Linoleum
- LVT
- Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT)
- Ceramic (given time)
- The fixative between the tiles
- Stone (ever seen the Grand Canyon? We know the water won’t be in your house long enough, but we’re making a point)
- Subflooring
- Sheetrock
- Paint
- Rugs
- Bamboo
Call us as soon as you notice the water damage.
Our team will extract the water, remediate the damage, and help restore the floor to its preloss conditions.
We will also:
- Check for water damage beneath the floor
- Clean and disinfect the area
- Reinstall flooring
- Remove odors
We cannot help you decide who washes the dishes until you get the dishwasher repaired or buy a new dishwasher.
A Partial History of the Dishwasher
Josephine Cochran designed the first practical automatic dishwasher in 1886. There had already been two patents for dishwashers, both of which impressed some people but neither of which could wash any dishes, but they looked cool. Cochran wanted a dishwasher that worked. Hotels and restaurants bought her dishwasher, but the regular (non-business) public didn’t start buying them until the 1950s.
No word on whether her machine ruined any floors. It did, however, wash dishes, and that is what Cochran meant it to do.
